Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from his teammate by one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner leading to the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's car P3, over half a second off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
